Today we talk to Nareen and Cherie of Marmoset Found.
Can you tell us what Marmoset Found is all about?
Marmoset Found is a boutique homewares wholesaler. We carefully curate collections of beautiful everyday pieces. We focus on products with a handmade element to them and most pieces are entirely handmade. We love the irregularities that come with making things by hand and believe this adds value and uniqueness to our range.
What was your inspiration?
I have always had a passion for homewares, particularly anything handcrafted. Nareen and I both felt that we were seeing the same products in every homewares store we visited and felt that there was a need for more bespoke, unique products. We booked our first trip and have been travelling and working alongside local artisans to produce our products ever since.
What are the design trends you are seeing emerging for 2016?
The pantone colour of the year always creates a buzz in the interiors world and this year the colours, rose quartz and serenity will be a beautiful combination seen right across the homewares industry. I also think the movement to embrace imperfection and bespoke deisign will continue to be strong.
So what is your favourite piece at the moment?
We have been working on expanded range of our Cloud Ceramics for the past 18 months and I am so happy with the result! We have so many new shapes – oval plates, square platters, round dishes and cylindrical vases in stunning wintery tones : charcoal, steel blue, chalk white and seafoam green.
And the special room in your home?
It would have to be the dining room – one of Kirra Jamison’s colourful artworks hangs on the wall and our Jardan credenza is filled with a rotating collection of my favourite Marmoset Found pieces that sit alongside treasures that I pick up on my travels. I also love to cook, so sitting around the table in the evening with my family over dinner is one of the best times of the day for me.
What are your plans for your home in 2016?
2015 was an extremely busy year juggling a young family, Marmoset Found and opening our new retail space – Wren Store. As a consequence, our garden has been a bit neglected, so I would like to devote some time to that in the coming year!
Thank you Nareen and Cherie!
